A buzzer for everyone, already in their pocket
Guests scan the QR code on the TV or type a five-character room code, pick a team, and their phone becomes a buzzer. No app to install, no account to make, and no argument about who pressed first.
How do phone buzzers work?
When you open a question, the host screen arms the buzzer room and every phone that has joined wakes up with one big button. Presses are ordered as they reach the buzzer room, and every screen shows the same result: who was first, and how far behind everyone else was.
Joining takes a first name and the room code — nothing else. The name is shown on the TV so the room knows who's playing, and it's deleted automatically seven days after the party.

Scan, type a name, pick a team
Before the first question the TV shows a QR code, the address thepartyquiz.com/buzz and the room code in huge letters. Guests scan or type, enter a first name and tap their team's colour. Their name appears under the team on the TV a moment later.
The QR code also carries the quiz's language, so a Dutch quiz opens a Dutch buzzer.
THE RACE
Asleep until it matters
The button only wakes up when a question is open, so nobody can buzz early by accident. The first press wins and shows as a gold card on that phone; everyone else sees who got there first and their own time behind.
If the answer's wrong, the buzzers re-arm for a steal. You can also reset them by hand.

The same phone answers the other formats
In a pub-quiz round the phone becomes an answer pad — a text box, or a number keypad for number questions. In quickfire it shows the options as big coloured bands. Same room code, same join, nothing new to learn.

Questions about buzzers
Do guests need to download an app?
No. The buzzer is a web page, so any phone with a browser works — iPhone or Android, no install and no sign-up.
Is it fair if some phones are on slower connections?
Buzzes are ordered by when they reach the buzzer room. A very slow connection can still cost a fraction of a second, the same way it would with any online buzzer.
Can two people share a phone?
Yes. A phone joins under one name, so a couple on the sofa can share one — they just buzz as one player.
What if a phone loses its connection?
The buzzer page remembers the name and the room code, so rejoining is two taps: continue, then the team. The phone keeps its place on the roster rather than appearing twice.
Can I run the quiz without buzzers?
Yes. The buzzers are optional; shouting and hands still work, and you score with the + and − buttons.
