Any television becomes the game-show screen
Open one link on the TV and it shows the board, the questions, the countdown and the scores — following every tap you make on your phone or laptop. A smart-TV browser, a laptop on HDMI, a cast tab or a projector all work.
How do I put a quiz on my TV?
Open your quiz's TV link — thepartyquiz.com/p/ followed by your room code — in a browser on the television, or on a laptop plugged into it. That screen is now the room's screen. You run the quiz from a second device, usually your phone, and the TV follows along live.
Press the full-screen button on the TV screen, tap once to allow sound for the music rounds, and you're ready.

The TV does the welcoming
Until you start, the TV shows the quiz's name, a QR code and the room code in letters big enough to read from the sofa. As people join, their names appear under their team.
DURING THE GAME
Big, readable, and never a spoiler
Questions are set in huge type for the back of the room, with the countdown and the scoreboard underneath. The TV page only receives an answer's text at the moment you reveal it — there is nothing hidden in the page to peek at.
If the TV loses Wi-Fi for a moment, it picks up where the game is when it reconnects.
Questions about the TV screen
Do I need a smart TV?
No. Any screen that a laptop can plug into works, and so does a projector. A smart TV's own browser is simply the option with the fewest cables.
Why do I have to tap the TV once?
Browsers don't let a page play sound until someone interacts with it. One tap on the TV switches on the sound for music and video clues for the rest of the night.
Can the host's laptop be the TV screen?
The TV link is meant for a screen everyone can see, and your controls are meant for you — so the usual setup is the TV link on the television and the host screen on your phone or laptop. That keeps the answers off the big screen.
Can people play from home?
Yes, if they can see the TV screen: share the TV link's window on a video call, and remote players join the buzzer room with the code like everyone else.
