What is a quickfire round?

Quickfire is a live multiple-choice quiz. Each question appears on the TV with up to six options, each marked with a symbol — ♠, ♥, ♦, ♣ for the first four — and every player taps their answer on their own phone before the countdown runs out.

It's scored automatically: a correct answer is worth between half and all of its points depending on how fast it came in, and the fastest correct answer earns a bonus. A team's score is the average of its players, so six people don't beat two just by being six.

Big, colourful, impossible to mis-tap

Every phone shows the question and the options as four big bands, each in its own colour and suit. The same suits are on the TV, so when you say “it's the diamond”, everyone knows which one you mean.

Answers are locked in with one tap. The TV shows how many people have answered, and nothing about what they chose until you reveal.

The room finds out together

Press reveal and the right option lights up green on the TV, with a bar for how many people chose each one. Then the standings: who was right, who was fastest, and who's in front.

Keeping the chart hidden until the reveal matters — a live bar chart would tell everyone still deciding which way the room is leaning.

Open the question

Questions about quickfire

Is it like Kahoot?

It works in a similar way — a question on the big screen, options on the phones, faster answers scoring more. The differences: a team scores its players' average, and it lives in the same product as a game-show board and a pub quiz.

Does the host play too?

No. The host's screen has the answers on it, so the host is never an entrant. That's also why the TV — which anyone in the room can see — never shows the answer before you reveal it.

What if someone answers twice?

Only their first answer counts. Tapping every option gains nothing.

Can I turn off speed scoring?

Yes. Set the round to accuracy only and every correct answer scores the same, however long it took.

Can people play on their own instead of in teams?

Yes. Choose everyone-for-themselves and up to 24 players each get their own row on the scoreboard, in the order they joined.
