What is a Jeopardy-style game board?

A Jeopardy-style board is a grid of categories and point values. Players pick a category and a value, the clue is revealed, and the first person to buzz in gets to answer. Harder clues are worth more, and a wrong answer lets someone else steal.

The Party Quiz puts that board on your TV and turns your guests' phones into buzzers. Every phone and the TV see the same order of presses, so the argument about who was first is over before it starts.

BUZZERS

The fastest thumb wins, not the loudest voice

When you open a tile, every phone in the room wakes up with one big red button. The first press wins, and every phone shows who got there first — and by how much.

Get it wrong and the buzzers re-arm, so another team can steal. Pressed the wrong button yourself? There's an undo.

WHAT GOES ON A TILE

Not every tile is a question

A tile can hold a normal clue, a music clue that plays with the picture hidden, a video clip everyone watches, or an action square — a dare nobody sees coming until someone picks that 400.

The AI generator puts at least two action squares and two music clues on every board it writes, so a round never feels like a form.

Values that belong to the square

Row three is worth 300 whatever sits there, so you can move a clue to another tile to make it harder or easier without retyping anything. The double round doubles every value.

Scores are shown big on the TV, with every team's colour and shape, and you can nudge any score up or down by hand when the room demands justice.

A team picks a tile
“Film & TV for 300.” You tap it on your phone or laptop and the clue opens on the TV.
Everyone buzzes
The phones wake up. The first press wins, and the answer clock starts counting down on the TV.
They answer out loud
Right: award the points and reveal. Wrong: dock them, and the buzzers re-arm for a steal.
The tile goes dark
Used tiles grey out on the board, and the next team picks. The tie-breaker settles a draw at the end.

Questions about the board

Is this the official Jeopardy! game?

No. The Party Quiz is an independent quiz app with a board format inspired by TV quiz shows. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Jeopardy Productions, and you write your own categories and clues.

Do clues have to be phrased as answers, like on TV?

No. Write them however your group likes. The AI generator writes English clues in the classic “This painter…” style with answers phrased as questions, and you can switch off the “What is…?” answers.

Can I play without buzzers?

Yes. Open the tiles, let people shout or raise hands, and use the + and − buttons to score. The buzzers are there when you want them, not required.

How many teams can play on one board?

Two to eight, each with its own colour and shape on the TV. Or switch to everyone-for-themselves and up to 24 players each get a row on the scoreboard.

Can I make a board in another language?

Yes — write it in any of 93 languages, or let the AI write it in yours. The TV and phones show their buttons and labels in English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish or Portuguese to match.
